Teaser for Exmouth
Submitted by Tandawg on Thu, 2011-03-31 09:43
Hi all, I am going up to Exmouth in late April and was wondering if some fishos can give me some advice on teasers. I do intend to troll for mackies and maybe head to deeper depths for billfish.
Do you use that angled block of wood with reflective sides? I presume something like this needs to have a weighted nose to stay below the surface and troll accordingly. I have heard of the long chain of rubber squids and broken CD's.
I have the fishing gear but these are things I have overlooked.
Thanks in anticipation

Stickface Stalker
Grab a Stickface Stalker from Escapin Tackle on Ebay. They work well & are a good price.
I would not use rubber squids when trolling for mackeral if you intend on keeping them for long.
Hope this helps.

From experience, I can tell you that pakulacockroach speaks the truth - even using 300lb mono

cd's
Leave the cd's out of the mix, they just loose their shine and any knicks in them can cause your leader to wear if you do it in mono. Another vote for escapin, cheap and easy.

a string of coke cans
put a straw through the middle and filled with expanding foam, then make a daisy chain of them - they throw up excellent splash.

What colour
What is the preferred colour teaser, or doesn't it make much difference?
I also had a look at the Stickface Stalkers and there are about 5 colours to chose from.
