Another Exxy boat ramp question - bog mats needed?
Submitted by dkonig82 on Thu, 2011-03-31 12:35
Off to Exxy in 3 weeks.
Ill be launching a 5.5m glass boat at Tantas and Bundegi.
I have never been up there before, do people think anti bog mats are adviseable?
If so, has anyone had experience with these?
They dont look as good as the MaxTrax, but they are sure a hell of a lot cheaper.

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

I hear they break
I hear they break pretty easy that brand. Lucky Tim has been retrieving his 6m there for the last couple of weeks with no mats so I assume at this stage its all good. Just depends how the sand builds up with the tides over the next few weeks.

Thanks guys
Have looked at the MaxTrax, but $300 or so seems a bit pricey.
Think I might take my chances (famous last words!)

watch the tides
dan , as the others have said i wouldnt worry about the mats , but keep an eye on the tides and ensure you get in before its very low , anything unde .7 is low but a 4wd makes it easy, if you launch and retrieve when its over .9 plus you shouldnt have many problems, also dont stand around taking your time and watching the back packers coming in off the whale sharks tours as your own rig is sinking in the sand whilst your enjoying the view

We pulled Deeg's
6 mtr trailcraft out there all last week during Gamex on the lowest tides and didn't have too much of a problem , just don't hang around on the ramp as has been said as she will get buried by the shore dump with a N or NW
Just one more cast , honest !!!
