Just wondering if any of you fellow members have ever dropped your rod and reel overboard. I only ask because today i almost lost me z40 and samaki jig stick to davey jones. I had the butt of the rod tangled in my jacket and got a big strike due to the force and being tangled in my jacket with possibly a bit of uncoordination thrown in the mix the rod pulled straight out of my hands and into the drink. Fortunately i was able to dive over the side of the boat submerging half my body and catch the rod about a metre or more down saving me combo. Bought a lotto ticket tonight after luck like that. cheers guys and girls

Haha, yep. That rod will be your lucky one from now on. When mine ended up in the drink I thought the rod would just sink, but it just hung under the surface for a few seconds enough to entice me to jump off the transom haha, worst time of year for going for a swim

on a dive trip ( free diving ) and my mate some how had some screws and nuts come loose on his spear gun and drop to the bottom and we are talking about tinny nuts and bolts he cursed and cursed I said hey I have my spare air I will go and have a look for them you wouldn't believe it after laying on the bottom a minute or two the water was so crystal clear (onslow) I found them all in about 12 meters of water

had an incident myself [in winter of course] pretty much the same thing. went in the drink grabbed the rod a metre or so under then handed the rod to my mate who preceded to reel in the snapper on the end. as i was climbing back in the boat i just saw the tail of a massive bronzie hit the surface as it took the snapper from the top. so i got me rod back and didnt get eaten, except for the freezing run back in was a win win!

Had to rescue my bullwhip
Had to rescue my bullwhip which was disappearing into the water at the old floodgates at Wonnerup once when a big blue nosed bugger grabbed my bait and it was only an inch of the butt sticking out of the drink when I realised what was happening. If only my reflexes were as good these days.
Cheers

pulled a stella 8000 and a saltiga rod out on a dive at the rowleys ( was in 80m saw it from about 40)
must have been at leat a year or two after it went in everything coated in coral - after spending half the $$ of a new stella on it, it works almost as good as my saragossa
the rod is perfect after a good clean
