Swan river crabs
Submitted by Caza on Fri, 2011-08-05 15:50
G'day guys was wondering if anyone's been out on the swan fishing and or crabbing I've had the taste of crabs in my mouth for a while and decided to try my luck tomorrow. I was wondering if anyone knows where the monsters are hiding and more importantly are they safe to eat I've always been pretty careful with what I eat from the swan I was thinking about heading down are mosman park and drop around there. Any tips be much appreciated
Cheers
Mark

I went on the west side of Garden Island and it was windy but not too rough at 7:30am. It looked worse in the sound so that is why I shot out to the West side. Lost my pick anchor due to a loose shackle and then proceeded to lose my temper at such a silly mistake, time to lock tie all the shackles so I drifted on the bag for the day. Very murky and all I managed was sand whiting and wrasse. Fish weren't on the usual spots that I have had luck lately. It did flatten out nicely and so I stayed out till 15:30. Ended up being bloody expensive whiting, $50 worth of fuel with all the driving around I ended up doing plus the cost of replacing my pick and chain. I overheard someone at the wash down area saying they nailed a pinky, a queen snapper and a sambo. He had a pretty big ali boat so he might have gone out deep where I stayed in close because I was unsure of what the weather was going to do.
It certainly beat a good day at work though,
