Swan breamin advice

gday all,

after getting my first bream on lure in Kalbarri recently I'm itching to get onto some here. Planning on heading to Belmont area, starting at the end of belmont ave and working back towards Burswood (shore based). High tide is around 5.15am, almanac says best fishing time is 6.08am, i reckon i'll get there at more lik 6.45 so fishing a falling tide. Will be using plastics if the blowies aren't in hordes, otherwise only got a couple harbodies n blades.

Was just wondering if any of the better breamers on here can offer any tips or advice, I've had a few goes in the river near canning bridge and S of PYC with no luck, getting a bit frustrating.

oh and if anyone wants to join us that'd be cool too, cheers.

ATM they've been loving the motor oil colour ZMAN grubz 2.5' around the south perth area. blowies really arent that much of a concern with these durable plastics, my advice just give it a go!

Around that area you can fish

Around that area you can fish near the drain at the golf course.  As the water runs out of the drain it really gets the fish firing.  Green coloured plastics have always done the best for me there.  The old eyeball tails rock it but you cant buy em anymore.  Also there is a old excavator bucket slightly upstream on the other side of the bridge that is always a good spot too.  Just beware of joe blakes when walking through the long grass.

ive done well using eco gear sx40's , daiwa shiner 40's and plenty more hard bodied lures. Try black/gold and browns/ greens colours. Work them with a very slow retrieve. 6-8lb fluro leader Cast into the channel and expect hits as you approach the bank and cover lots of ground.

Had a go this morning but had no luck. There was a stiff, cold easterly making life miserable and trying to push my casts into snags. The thought of hot coffee and breakfast got the better of me after about 40 minutes. Oh well, maybe next time...

Z-grubs

Was in a similar position myself a while back mate was trying pretty hard with the lures and just wasn't getting consistent results. I was using 6lb braid with 5lb.fluro 1/8 jig heads, then one day i was out walking my dog I stopped for a chat with a guy who was fishing and he was using the z-mans grubs with 1/16 jig head so I got some and am now killing it,there all I'm using at the moment, there very hardy as well so even after a good session there still in tact so it goes back in the pack for the next day,it's prob a combination of the z-mans and going the lighter jig that's  getting me the results.i also am now more carefull not to over work the lure,I now just do a really slow retrieve with a few pauses in there and maybe the odd lift but generally just a very slow retrieve is enough to make the tail swim on the plastic and get mr bream interested.i have found best results around the maylands area so far and wasn't getting any hassle from blowies, also consider the actual spot your fishing, structure structure structure is all I seem to read when it comes to bream and I'm not experienced enough to disagree but dnt just focus on bridges and jettys,I personally have found the best results in areas with more natural structure  like trees, snags grassy spots along the banks fishing the area around them and often quite close to the bank, after that all i can say is keep at it,dnt stress and eventually it starts to come togeather, hope this is some help mate

Cheers for the info and tips, I've been using little squidgy fish and shrimp style sp's, but atm I've got 6kg flouro on which i use for flatties, think its a bit too heavy and might be affecting lure action. Oh well, i'll go lighter, try Z-mans, eventually i'll crack it!
