Surf Fishing Advice - Coral Bay / Ningaloo / Exmouth
Submitted by buschy on Tue, 2010-02-23 18:42
Hi all,
I'm planning a trip north with the wife in the 3rd/4th week of November. At this stage Ningaloo is looking like the probably destination.
I don't have a boat so plan to do some surf fishing while up that way and was looking for some advice - any location in particular that jumps out as a great spot to stay for up to a week or so?
What sort of fishing can I expect - and am I right in saying I have probably picked an average month of the year to go up that far fishing wise?
As we will have a 4 month old baby...powered campsite / facilities would be preferred.
Thanks!
Rob

if in exmouth the lighthouse
if in exmouth the lighthouse caravan park is nice. pretty much on the tip of the cape so you can go either side to suit winds. its not right in town either so its a little more secluded. windy time of the year but i believe theres lots of baitfish around that time but may be wrong. plenty of light tackle spinning on either side of the cape (watch sanctuarys) or can throw poppers at oysters for bigger fare.

its a a hot hot windy windy time of year up there also on some days flys are shocking .with a 4 month old ide be looking more for a aircon chalet which are a bit more exxie but probably suit mum and junior a bit more..light house caravan park is a good choice with the main surf beach 5min drive away ,fishing either side of the gulf is great anytimer of year .just the wind and heat and sometime flys can make it a mission from shore

Leave the Missus @ home
After 4 months of new born torture you will need the break.
And not having a dig or anything...Hot cars and babies dont mix so be very prepared

Thanks for the replies.
Thanks for the replies. Quobba is on the books but probably another time and with a different crew!
I'll check out Exmouth options and appreciate the advice. I hope to do most of the driving at night and as the 4x4 is only 6 months old bought new it has great AC. :o)
Yeah....not sure what to expect as this is our first child but we will find a way!
