Steep Point Report/Photos
We returned from Steep Point the other day, burnt, tired and sore due to the quality of the fishing up there.

Day one started out well with me hooking a nice spaniard on lure within half an hour of being there. After that things quietened down and we spent the day on the "highside" where i lost a monster wobby which left me with aching arms for the next 2 days, we had never seen the wild side that quiet and were left wondering where the pinkies and baldies had gone. We had a flick that night and Mick had a lure that was playing up, "can you tune this for me" he asked. Cast, crank, crank, pause, crank and i was on again with my best spaniard for the trip, on Micks outfit.

Day 2 and a tuna to Mick (his first fish at the point) and another spaniard to me. Ed asked me if i wanted to have a cast of his new outfit, and like the day before, another spaniard on someone else's outfit had me wondering how long my luck would hold.

Day 3 saw Mick with his 1st spaniard on lure, and 10 minutes later his second came in.

Day 4, 5, and 6 we took quite easily with graham bagging his first on a leadhead jig and a couple more on balloons. Another 2 outings were made to the "highside" with me taking a pb pinkie, and after that nearly being yonked off the cliff by a shark as the drag was locked down. Ed lost a nice pinkie on the haul up when his main line snapped, 1 minute later i was on and found eds rig, complete with pinkie, tangled to my line. After a quick ownership debate, and another couple of pinkies, we returned to the point to find Graham with the best spaniard of the trip, around 15kgs.
Was a great trip!

From your photo's poida it looks like you might have been lucky enough to have the point almost to yourselves. Is that the fact?
Good report btw.

Yep, there was 1 group of three who left a few days after we arrived, which left us with the best platforms. After having the point to ourselves for a few days a group of 6 turned up.
