hey ladies and gentlemen just wanted to ask if anyone has any hints or tips on squidding for a first timer and can recommend any places to go around perth

Try the rocks at Freo. I've
Try the rocks at Freo. I've found South Mole produces better than North. Any of the jetties scattered around will usually hold squid but I think after dark will be your best bet there.

not sure if the invite was for me but let me know how you go i left around 9:30 no one was gettin amy squid while we were there.... someone did catch a sting ray or some sort of shark in their crab net

Hey Trudy, I need to show you the pic of my squid i caught in Albany. I put a drop of aniseed oil on the jig and cast it out and while i was pulling it in hooked one on my first shot. It was AWESOME! Never caught one before so wasnt sure what to expect, but there was ink spitting everywhere. It was crazy. but so much fun. I need someone to show me the trick to cleaning it without ink going all over me. I cooked up the most delicious lemon pepper squid and salad. Soooo tasty.

cleaning
from memory cleaning squid is pretty easy just pull the head out of the body and then get the cartlige ( excuse spelling ) out then you fold it inside out by pushing the tail end in towards were the front used to be and then just clean any remanding inerds off then fold it back once finished as for the skin i'm not too sure i think that pulls off i'm not entirely sure. Someone may have a better way of doing it though

just be as gentle as you can
just be as gentle as you can be removing the head/guts/backbone combo if you can. If you get that out without puncturing the ink sack you get a wonderfully clean tube otherwise grab a old cloth and rub it down.

still got a long way to go in way of skills.... still have not been squidding which is top of my list
its just timing and knowing when to go ..... hopefully head out tongiht people keep telling me its go to go after its been raining

Caught at abrohlos islands almost a meter long with tenticles photo is on my account
