What do people recommend. Was looking at the fsu 6120 blank as starting point if anyone has used one would like to know how good they are.
Going to be using it on beach and rocks down south.
Got avet hx mc raptor going onto it with 600yrd 60lb braid with mono topshot.

FSU BLANKS
Hi perthblue, iv'e built a few rods over the years on fsu blanks i currently have a 6120 built up as a ballooning rod. Ive cut it down from the butt a bit to fit a smaller reel seat on it and to shorten it to nine foot. Its a very gutsy rod that fishes 60lb braid to its limit, nice and cheap too! If i was building one up as a casting rod i would go for one of the graphite versions so a fsu6120g bit more expensive but it would be a crisper blank. Don't know what weight you want to cast or what you are chasing but if you are after mullas n small sharks id go for the fsu5120g. Bit short for serious beach work in my opinion but awesome off the stones. Cheers ,Pat

for sliding we use a 12-13ft
for sliding we use a 12-13ft rod, assassin beachmaster medium, anyfish anywhere 6 and bait, purglass b xtreme, kingfisher bantam 5 Heavy ect all make great sliding rods. biggest factor with sliding is finding a good rod that can cast a 8oz grapnel as most surf rods just arent cut out to cast that sort of weights. HX is also a very large reel, we use LX as our larger in the avets, torium30-50, saltist 50 ect are a fair bit easier to cast and we run 50lb as our max as anything heavier with 24kg mono topshots just sacrafices capacity.

Could you balloon an 8oz
Could you balloon an 8oz grapnel sinker out and break it off when you reach the spot you want it?
