Shore Catch Wangara - Getting Closer Update
It has been a while since I have posted anything so here is a Shore Catch update. I really respect Members comments so please feel free to make some, particularly about stock you would like to see.
Following planning approval, we are now progressing rapidly to our opening in Wangara. I will do FW Members “soft openings” in late November early December, with sausage sizzle and some free 6’0 Mustard hooks, so we can get feedback before we open to the public.
The showroom has been our highest priority. Demo, floor sanding and painting, and it is finally taking shape.
Fixtures and fittings are progressing with freezers, POS system, counter, display cabinet, benches and other associated items being obtained. The custom rod & reel holders for the showroom floor have been designed and are being constructed. Security bars have been commissioned and will be put in before we hold anything of real value. Relevant insurances have been sourced and supplementary statutory licences are due in the next week or two.
The preliminary design for the window graphics is complete and will be finalised and printed in the next couple of weeks.
We have been spending a lot of time getting the stock range together. As I have indicated before, we do not intend to operate a tackle shop. We seek to provide quality items at a fair price in one place, that you would normally have to “hunt for and evaluate”. It is about provision of quality products and service that Members would want, and we will publish a full stock list in the future. Burley, selected bait (fish, cray, crab), second hand goods, shirts, graphic products, selected tackle and accessories probably summarises our proposed offerings at this stage. We will be a “fishing gift shop for your friends to buy you stuff”. A few images of recent items are shown below.
I finally got to go for a fish on Saturday, in the MAAC comp (the weather has been crap for afternoon fishing over the last 2 months!). My bag was ok, but nothing special. I must say that I like to fish the comps to get out there once a month, without fail in different conditions, and spend time with the knowledgeable fishos at the MAAC during the weigh in and presentation (winning means nothing).
Couldn’t buy a 200mm sand whiting (the one in the photo shrunk and I didn’t weigh it in) but at least I have my vacuum packed “pinkie lollies” for when the ban is over.
I look forward to meeting you and will publish further updates as things progress.

Squid
Hutch, Thanks Mate. It's a squid - couldn't resist the live sand whiting and got netted. It looks dodgy because it had been in the freezer - too rushed to take a "fresh" photo. Mick

Looking the goods there. Let me know when (if) 'The Shredder' goes into production, something like that will make my life heaps easier and will be in high demand up here for sure.

Shredder
Daisy, The "super shredder" is under construction as we speak. Just waiting on my Fisheries licence for "Fish Processing" before I get it all up an running. Always happy to help Members out and once it gets going we will look at the logistics of making them for sale - it is a very dangerous piece of gear though. Cheers. Mick

Fantastic, even if its a 1
Fantastic, even if its a 1 off job, Ill have it! Definitely a lot safer and more efficient than how most of us do it up here ATM - Tree shredder with most (ok, all) safety devices removed, jam in the frozen fish and stand back. Shit flying everywhere, the dog loves it, the missus - ah, not so much.
If you can let me know when you do mate, that would be great.

Have driven by a few times but not seen anybody there working. Thought you were putting it on hold for a while.
Looking forward to the FW opening.

Looking good, and good on ya for given it a good hard crack!
I like the way uncle is thinking, maybe you need to apply for a liquor license and set up a fishwrecked bar in there as well! Haha

Cold Ones
Ha Ha.
I have obtained restricted liquor licences for sporting clubs in the past, but I dare say it would be a hard slog getting one - would need a council approval too.
I do have this one however, and I reckon it could stash a few freebies for FW Members in it. Actually, you could probably wholesale from it - not.
