Sea temperature hit 24.2 degrees off Mindarie today
Took the wife and kids 35 odd kilometres west of Mindarie today to see if we could find some whales. at about 15kms out i looked at the sea temp and couldnt believe it was right on 23 degrees, kept slowly getting warmer then at 25 km out the dragonfly showed 24.2 degrees then slowly dropped back to 23 at about 35km out. There was a large school of little southern blues that looked about 40 -50 cm long busting up on the surface out there but not a whale in sight anywhere. 2 weeks ago we were 10 km behind rotto and i never saw the temp get over 19 degrees lots of whales though. Did anybody else get high temp readings today or is my dragonfly playing up! hopefully the reading was right thats gotta be a good sign for the up coming mackie season! cheers dave

Local heating on the surface
We saw SST's of 23-24 degrees at 50Nm out today. The same water we drove over this morning was nearly a degree hotter late this afternoon.

Went diving Saturday
And the water temp in the top 10 meters was a lot warmer. Didn't take temps though but your readings would be about right. A month ago the water was freezing!
