sad news to all project boat builders!
http://www.marinebusiness.com.au/news/fandb-publisher-sea-media-in-liquidation
was by far the best and most unbiased of the magazines in the marine trade.
They always called a spade a spade and called it as they saw it.
Sad to see Peter, Ruth and their crew go under.
RIP F&B

bad news
thats bad news for sure!
The website is a great source of information on all sorts from projects to outboards and expeditions.
Id suggest to anyone with an interest to go to the Seamedia website and download anything they might like before it disappears (if it hasnt already)

yip killed off by the marine
yip killed off by the marine industry withdrawing support and adds cause he called it as he saw it.
Australia hates crtics and hearing when they have to raise their game.
Yes Peter was blunt and rude at times, but if he said it was good, then you could bet your house on it and if he said it was kak, then you knew to look hard at it.
Word has it several boat sales places, retialers and builders decided it was time to hurt him most and pulled their adds in one big go!
I wonder who will now tell us what the real fuel usage of an outboard is, or why a boat yarns in a follwoing sea, or who's welds are coming appart on their boats, or how to rebuild your old decks, or any of the millions of other tricks of the trade that we all learnt from F&B mag.
Whats more is the sad sight of so many kickers now bashing him as he goes down. Tall poppy hackers at their best behind false names and titles!

thanks Allan, thats right,
thanks Allan,
thats right, on that article I linked across, there are comments on the bottom by people kicking a good man when he is down!
I learnt more from F&B publiscations and Sea Media products than anything else in the marine game.
Sad to see Peter and Ruths hard work go down the gurgler!

I agree Tony
it is sad to see such people go under. I contacted Peter directly before I bought my boat and he was very informative and helpful.

Support
Looks to be more support coming for him in those comments. Two morons hiding behind pseudonyms don't make a mob.

some comments have been
some comments have been removed over last few days by mods there.
but those two are the main culprits.
I bought the yearly E-version for the last two years and I think I have 95% of the paper copies since I arrived in Aus in 2004 till 2009 as well!
I hope like hell the online e-copies don't now go off-line with the administration of Sea Media

All conspiracy theories aside
It would have been a fairly hard gig to keep a fairly niche type magazine afloat for all this time. Its not the kind of magazine that people will generally buy all the time - its the type of magazine that you see an interesting review or test (generally when you are in the market to buy a boat) and buy on impulse. Hard to put in a sustainable business model around a fickle audience. Plus the general downturn and losses in the boating industry and corresponding drop in advertising couldn't have helped.
FWIW, I have a few copies and generally liked the magazine.
