The run of the whites

So what's everyone's opinions on when the whites will run? Are you divers seeing many whites yet or any cray pro's out there with a hot tip? I'm all ears!

 Started getting whites

Sat, 2013-11-16 16:51

Started getting whites today, 4 from 16 but very rubbery. Lots of berried and setose around which made it hard work for our bag limit. Although the nests are choccas they are a lot more flighty than the last few weeks. (Nobody told them the ban started a week early)

Last weekend on both sat and sun got about a half dozen white/soft, yesterday bagged out and not a soft cray or white amongst them.  All dives were in the rottnest area (all different spots).  Didn't get any with tar spots but at least half were either berried or with hairs.  Strangely both yesterday and last Sunday fisheries were at the leuwin ramp, and hardly saw them down there at all last year.  Someone was getting booked while we were coming in, but don't know what for.

About 10% white at leeming last weekend

Sun, 2013-11-17 08:31

also mabye the same % soft. Hundreds of undersize seen. Whites not going in pots ATM for us.

Set two pots in a honey hole very close to a ledge full of crays for zero return.

Lucky for us the dive gear came along.

All up 6 pots for 0 return two nights...gear 4 plastic 2 wood pots. slat pots submerged in the dam for four days pre trip.

Pro's up there are calling the whites to run on the 28th

Got a couple of whites yesterday, but they were soft as. Shitloads of small Crays around, most not even worth looping they were that small.

You gotta be on the field to give yourself a chance to win

Sun, 2013-11-17 09:39

We've been having a crack NOR in the Ocean Reef vacinity. No luck this week but I am attributing that to the moon. We're only able to go every second week due to work restrictions. The first week we got some resi's (4) and three were whites with one being red. Back to work tomorrow so hopefully the following week will be the start to the christmas feed. Like I said you gotta be on the field to give yourself a chance to win

its just a bit hit and miss

Sun, 2013-11-17 16:11

its just a bit hit and miss at the moment I think, gotta know where to find them. We dived 2 spots on friday about 150m apart in the same depth and the first spot we got 1 keeper, next spot we got 14, same sort of ground, same line of reef.

Your killing it so far timmbo, if you don't mind me asking, what metro ramp do you dive out from? Not that it's gonna make me move my pots to another location, I'm just curious.
