Rotto Swim - Whats a fair cost contribution?

What a fair cost to ask for as a support vessel for the Rotto swim?

I reckon I will use 80ltrs of fuel maximum on the Merc 150 4 Stroke. Launch fees, info night, drinks/ice/12hr day. I was thinking $350... That will more than cover fuel, a feed on the island & a belly full of beer at the pub afterwards. My brother and his wife will be over from the UK so we are only considering a duo or solo and will probably party on and crash on the boat!

I'd say that's more than generous on your behalf. Some teams were offering around the $1.5-2k mark close to the race this year.

Charity

Don't the swimmers raise money for charity? Do a good deed and get them to donate that money to the charity on your behalf.

May just cop a nice fine.....

Recreational vessels that are hired or hired out are defined as a DCV are in direct violation of the Marine Safety (Domestic Commercial Vessel) National Law Act 2012 and there are significant financial penalties with a minimum fine in excess of $2000.00 for any contravention of the Act by way of an Infringement Notice or prosecution in a court apply.

Any recreational vessel found to be on hire during the Rottnest Channel Swim may result in the vessel being prohibited from operation immediately (withdrawn from swim), along with a breach report forwarded to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA).

Doubt you would even go close to that fuel use

Fri, 2017-12-22 17:25

Most of the time you are in idle..... you shouldn’t “ask”for anyth8ng but I would expect the  swimmers to shout you a meal after the event and meet the cost to top up the tank.  I would NEVER do it again!.....got rammed by an idiot, saw others reversing contrary to the express rules and I had a group of really good swimmers including Shelley Taylor-Smith
