repairs to transducer cable

 Hey guys is it possible to cut out a badly damaged section of transducer cable and rejoin and solder the wires  back together

Yes, but for a cheaper transducer, it isn't worth the time and effort.

What transducer?

Is the damage below the waterline?

You can have endless problems if there is water inside the cable itself as it pretty much deadens the signal.

Its a long way out of the water  where the damage was done it was done a long time ago have been using the furno 620 will give it a go

Airmar sell a waterproof box for joining their cables, or you can get one from Whitfords etc. I had to cut and join mine as the new connector would not fit through existing holes. The warrantee info stated that it would only still be covered if join was contained within a waterproof junction box.

Best of Luck mine seems to work fine after the surgery.

As you say it is a long way from the water, you can use the airmax box ^^. It is a bit more tricky if the cut is below the waterline.

I cut and joined my P66 to get it thru the transom just using solder and good quality heat shrink. Seems to still work better than my Lowrance!
