Red Emperor off Cape Nat!!
Submitted by Habanero on Sun, 2013-03-03 12:54
Got word that a Red was taken off Cape Nat yesterday , will post a pic if/when I get one , must have been 6 years ago one was taken at Naturaliste Reef . The other unusual species making a show off the Duns Beaches is Giant Herring , with quite a few being landed in the past fortnight , mainly by people throwing light surface lures ....

Pic
One of those stories where a pic would be really good. Hopefully not like all those who catch their first coral trout off rotto, only to see a pic which reveals it as a harlequin.

Reputable source BJ, here is hoping for some pics
As far as those trout stories I still chuckle at the bloke claiming a black arse as one, mind you he also claimed his tub could travel faster than the delorean out of back to the future so probably no surprise

Still unusual enough
I guess though Red Throats have been caught down here before.
I would find it very hard to believe a Red Emp down this way. There not even that common at the Abrolhos

Yeah i got a text msg from
Yeah i got a text msg from Fisheries today saying about the Red Emperor caught of Cape Nat, and that the Fish Frame collecting lady (Kim) would like to add these to the list of frames that she would like aswell.
Thought it might have been a Red Throat as thinking Red Emperor, WHAT!!!!!! Mind you there have been stranger things caught in funny places these last few years.
On the topic of Red Throat Emperors though was off Two Rocks on Friday and caught 17 of them ranging from 23-29cm. This was in different locations too, but off one reef we caught 9 of them. Must have been a school as we left them on the bite as didnt want to bother feeding them as we were just releasing them all.
