Quintrix 3,9m Tinnie

Hi Guys,

I am looking at buying a Quintrix 3,9 m tinnie for the sound/river and a quick fish or for crabbing etc.

I am 100 odd kg and tall, and want to know how these boats are for stability - would I be able to stand up on the boat when fishing, or will it topple over?

Do they bob around a lot on the water?

Would a 25HP motor be suitable for this size boat.

Thanks guys..

Quintrex Explorer

Hey there Dave.By the sound of it a Quintrex Explorer would be the perfect tinnie for you.I have seen a boat like this in the sound and the guy showed me just how stable it was by standing on the back bench seat on the far corner and it hardly moved.I have a Bermuda 395 Discovery with a 25 Yamaha which is similar to the Explorer in shape and we fish 2 adults standing( I weigh 100kg+) and a child with ease in the sound. You will find a 25 hp is max rating for a boat that size and mine has no trouble getting up on the plain.

The only draw back I find with these punt style hulls is that they tend to slap a bit in choppy conditions due to the flat bottom of the hull and depending on how much ocean fishing you do keep this in mind. A Quintrex dart may be more suitable for the ocean but im not sure on the stability with these .As for river and estuary they are great

Stacer.. it was advertised as a quintrex, but seems to be a stacer - is stacer a model? I thought it was a brand?

Anyway, it has a V bottom, will try to see what it is called in the papers later.

Thanks for the advice - Nimbin...
