A question for all you eggbeaters

Even though being right handed they say you should reel an egg beater with your left so you always have control of the winder.. I'm pretty sure this originated in England. I personally don't but who does? Does it make a big difference if you do?

Been asked before
This question has come up a few times now. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer. I just do what feels comfortable, sometimes i cast and wind left handed and other times right handed.

Isnt it so you can work the lure immediately?
If you cast and wind with it on the right you flick the bail arm over then wind, with it on the left, your right hand does the bail arm and the left can begin to wind immediately so the lure doesnt sink and get snagged.
That was how it was explained to me.

If you're right-handed...
...it makes sense to use your right arm/hand to do the rodwork (casting/lure working/fish fighting) with the dominant (right) arm/hand, and leave the mundane stuff (winding) with the left. It's what I do, but then to really throw a spanner in the works, I do the opposite with baitcast/OH reels (rod in left hand, reel handle in right)...maybe 'cause those type of reels aren't widely available in lefthand mode and I've just learned to adapt?

fishing
(I am right handed) when working vibes and plastics for bream, i wind left handed and hold the rod with my right, I do this as i can impart a better action on the plastic and I have more control over it.
when spinning though, I generally wind right handed
