I had a very similar dent in my 40hp and i used a very fine metal file and filed it out. Before i filed it out i had after each drive new cavitation marks on my leg but they stoped after that which made me think it worked fine. As well I had no speed loss or anything like it. Before you buy a new one I think its worth a shot.
