 the only way to do it is with two groins around it, but then you could still have long tirm problems, just look @ port  & layton beaches. a lot of careful planning is require & money, but the money should not be a problem, with the boat license, & fuel tax we pay when using our boats. cheers Don.

it might be a bit arrogant of me but apart from some general maintenance on the jetty and coming up with a better launch retrieve system they should leave it alone. This is my local ramp and like many others I happily launch and retrieve a 7.5 ally boat on my own here with minimal fuss even when it blows up a stiff south wester. It’s a open ocean ramp and can cop a flogging that’s the nature of the beast and in my opinion if your launch in a two meter swell and 20knt wind you should probably rethink heading out. Building a groin will cause nothing but drama and will get silted up very easy and will degrade the adjacent beaches and cause more weed build up then there already is, you only need to look at point peron beautiful ramps and jetty and the swell rolls in there silts the shit out of ramps to the point there in usable. There would be much more merit in relocating bent street. At the end of the day all recreational actives have there risks boating is no exception if the facility is good condition and people use common sense and show courtesy to each other this ramp can continue on being a good thing. Tight lines 

I agree with above, any sort of structure will affect the surrounding area as alot of sand/silt/weed moves thru there. It will build up quick smart in certain spots and cause more drama than its worth. All the engineering degrees in the world cant predict what will happen over time imo, the proposal might work out or it might not. Causeway has slowed most of the flushing in cockburn sound, wanliss marina seems like a better idea imo. probably doesnt help the pk users, but im happy with the way it is at the moment.  Bit like the canal rocks/hamelin ramps perfectly fine to use in the right conditions, if its not usable go to another protected ramp.

Might slip in a suggestion to make it $11 to park the trailer to help fund maintenance etc

Hahahah yeah nah we can keep the parking fees for the unlucky nor folk, I can bet my left nut very minimal if any of that money goes into maintaining the ramp. Shark1 couldn’t agree more the rates are a bit over the top, the council does a pretty good job every time the ramp gets weed or silted up there down there with bob cat give here a tickle up. Couple new rubber bumpers on the bolards and a way to make the traffic flow a bit better and it’ll be top notch. We get very spoilt in wa with the quality of marina and boat ramp facilities but that’s what rates and regos are for to provide us with that. It’s a good ramp that keeps the good boaties honest and makes the not so good ones a bit more wiser.

Do away with the bent street one it’s a lost cause and put a couple more in at Port Kennedy  

I agree with doing away with Bent St ramp, it should never have been built, should have been at Carlisle St.

 if they didnt stuff around dumping sand onto  penquin island -which they dredged out from pt peron ramp- turn island would never have silted up and bent st would still have been as good as it was 15 yrs ago

 Not sure how much you guys are complaining about but here in Kununurra a workmate who lives in  2x1 no land just got the bill $2900.

$7K for industrial blocks on 2000 metres. $3200 another mate on 5 acres out of town.
