It's not their fish stocks it's a state wide resource, out of Towners a have an equal right to fish there!
The "locals" are more than happy to ignore their mate Gazza or bazza that goes every day and bags out, no different than the Nanga residents that fish every day bagging and complain about tourists that arrive for a week, take a look at themselves first.
Without fishos going there the town would suffer. The $ spent in that town by fishos in the way of fuel , food ,ice and bait certainly would keep them afloat . Get rid of the sharks then there would be more snapper
Just got back from my last ever trip to Denham after over 20 years of going there. The locals are militant about visitors taking "their" fish, clearly they don't realise that when the visitors are gone, so is the town. There is no shortage of fish just an over abundance of sharks, I lost more to sharks than I got to the boat, I believe that a commercial shark fishery would benefit the Bay more than anything else. I spend an average of about 10K each year in Denham, no more though, I'm finshed with it.
Ive never been there with a boat, only with the family as they are very young - ive always really enjoyed it. But in a year or so when the kids are old enough i would certainly plan on taking the boat up, so it would be very concerning if there was confrontation!

Get out of here with that
Get out of here with that kind of logic, reduce bag limits and increase licence fees and that should sort the shark problem out.

I think the town should
I think the town should invest in bigger offal bins. Bigger bins = less empties which i turn means less fish being caught.
