Just a heads up, Oceanside Tackle and Marine are doing a “ Pink Snapper and Sounder Techniques “ TALK at Cockburn Power Boat Association.
Lean all the inshore pink snapper secrets from the Specialist Ryan Thipthorp and his staff. Ryan and crew will go through where to search, what to look for on the sounder, baits, rigs, techniques, better times, using softplastics and more ….
After that, Furuno Sales Manager and sounder Expert Rhyss Whittred will follow up with in depth Sounder Tunning and getting the best out of your sounder to catch pink snapper.
We will be running a Special Raffle on the night to WIN a “Once in a Liftetime” Pink Snapper Fishing experience with Snapper Expert Ryan Thipthorp and Furuno Sounder Expert Rhyss Whittred on his sensational boat Ashram!
This is Open to the general public and RSVPs is absolutely ESSENTIAL.

Shock and awe
I was shocked at the thinness of the fishing rods being used to catch snapper, whilst I don't use a broom stick I couldn't get over just how thin these new generation of fishing rods are.
Awe, seeing the latest generation of Furuno sounders displayed and the capabilities they have, like they will tell you the sex of a sand worm at 100 fathoms, ok not quite but they are not far short of being able to.
The talk the guys from Oceanside Tackle gave on just how to go about finding snapper in the sound and then how to fish for them was so inspiring I swear I saw a couple of guys rush down to the launching ramp straight after the presentations. Well ok I fib a bit but it was very good I think everyone learnt a few new tricks be it to do with sounders fishing gear or how to find spots that should be holding fish.
To CPBA, a big thank you for providing your great club house and excellent bar for the presentations.
To Furuno, just what does the future hold, your presentation certainly drew a few gasps from the guy sitting next to me, he said the capabilities of your sounders reminded him of a quote from a past American president, you can run but you can't hide and ain't that the truth for the poor fish.
To Oceanside Tackle, your generosity in disclosing little secrets on how to get the best out of your equipment when out on the water is so very much appreciated.
I don't think it would be out of place to say on behalf of all those who attended last night we all came away being wiser about how to go about catching snapper in our sound so close to major concentrations of suburbia and producing such fantastic fishing.
Thank you so very much guys, may your gods watch over you when you venture out on the water.

great night, i wasnt expecting to get much but a sales pitch from Furuno, i'll be honest ive been tinkering in the shed all day, albeit with my Raymarine :)
And Ryan and hte boys from Oceanside, thats why i drive past 3 BCF's and chain stores to go to oceanside.... great info, well presented. if soemone could turn this shit weather off id be able to go play :)

CPBA Snapper Talk Night - Wrap Up
Well what a great turn out we had over the 2 nights at CPBA with the "Pink Snapper and Sounder Techniques" Talk.
There were 240 plus 1st Night and 220 plus on the 2nd Night so a big turn out. We have been asked to do more talks for the people that missed out but we need a break haha
Plenty of very keen anglers and the feedback was very positive indeed with some guys saying they have been snapper fishing for 40 years and learnt something which is great to hear. Rhyss Whittred from Taylor Marine went through Furuno sounders including understanding the features and how they work, Us staff including Oceanside Tackle and Marine owner Ryan Thipthorp went through all info on targeting pink snapper, sounder pics, techniques and all the fishing gear we use when targeting pink snapper.
We had some of the shop gear there with plenty of Specials for people including softplastic combos, softplastic rods, Abrolhos softplastics, cryovac machines and more.
We just want to say a big thanks to Rhyss Whittred, Taylor Marine, Furuno, CPBA, John Tissot, Cindy, Des Kelly and all the people that made this night a huge success. Also Thanks to Alan Koh from Ocean Legacy for displaying and explaning his New range of rods.
Rhyss Whittred (CPBA Comittee Member and Fishwrecked member) asked Ryan and us staff some 3 plus months ago to do this talk and we appreciate the opportunity especially as many of the people attending were Customers and Fishwrecked members.
There were plenty of prizes won via the many raffle ticket draws including a icom vhf radio, lifejackets, anchors, esky, rod & reel combo etc The big raffle draw winner (2 winners) got a Day out snapper fishing with Rhyss Whittred and Ryan Thipthorp onboard Rhyss's awesome " Ashram " boat. The other big raffle draw winner (2 winners) got the all accommodation and offshore fishing package at Leeman with Robert Pomersbach etc
It was good to see some of these prizes were won by customers and fellow Fishwrecked members also.
