after having a couple of close shaves since moving to the metro from up north ( the ocean down here is heaps trickyer than up north) I have decided to invest in a couple of pfds, when I was in the marine wksp up north I used to have to chopper it out to the light houses of shore I was issued with a military style pfd that had mini flares , a tiny little personal distress beacon, whistle , survival rations and a light that flashed if you went in it weighed bugger all and you could wear it all day apparently they were worth 3k I don't want to spent that sort of dough but was wondering what type the ssar boys use and where can you get them

Pete get yourself a Stormy Vest or Jacket very well made I have the vest type and certainly keeps me both warm and dry as well,Stormy also make the yolk style pfd's as well they come fitted with water activated strobe light and whistle and you have the other option of manual activation or water imersion activation.they stand by the productyou can buy direct from them as well which can save you a few $$$$
