well mate
suggestions????? for a start -for the black pearl they need to black poles right ??? :-)

I am certainly not an expert but obviously reelax make some great bases -pacific composites make some good value poles (compleat angler can supply these) -as for length you realy want the longest you can feasibly fit on your boat (will depend on the base size)so you can position you lures out of the wash (15-20foot max)
Second hand gear comes up a bit on Ebay (and here obviously) shipping is surprising cheap even ex USA -
i got some really good (2nd hand) bases a few years back from the Fin brothers in Sydney who own Gameboats (www.gameboats.com.au) check out the bargain bazaar on their website -
Seperately -you could get some old carbon fibre windsurfing poles and a yacht jib conector (like a flexible base) and make your own like the guys who run the local gameboat in Kota Kinabalu do!! - (looked terrible but am sure it works!)

cheers

All depends on how much you

All depends on how much you want to spend and what you are going to use them for.

Relax bases are certainly the standard for a good set up. Stu at Precision does some fantastic poles although they are quite pricey.

For the cheapies, I have the hendersons on my 17r and have caught plenty of marlin so I can't really knock them. Not fond of the ally telescopic models though.

I run 12' outrigger poles

I run 12' fibreglass poles from my 6m quinnie I got then second hand off this web site and I'm very pleased with them, for bases I've use a couple of S/S angular rod holders and all appears to work fine (only caught mackies though). Cheap yep but they work for me

Just set riggers up on my boat over xmas.

Went with the Reelax Reef Rigger bases and 4.5m poles on a 6m boat. I would be going the 5.5m poles on your boat if it was me.

You can set them up cheaply or go with better stuff but pay the price all depends how much you will use them and what your going to run off them.

Base type will sepend on where you want to mount them as well.
