Okuma Andros 5II??
I have been looking for a nice small overhead for bottom bouncing, jigging and a bit of trolling, and have found myself stuck on this little gem. http://www.okuma.com.au/Okumahome/show_one_product.aspx?productgroup=Overheads&titleid=Andros&iid=313&tech=MachinedRigidFrame;StainlessSteelGearing;HippoGrip;CarboniteDrag;2SpeedGearing;CRCprocess
Ordered one this morning and cant wait to get my grubby little paws on it. I managed to get a Shimano Deep Jig 400 and a 500m spool of 50lb bionic braid off a bloke at work for $200, rod used once, braid brand new. Reckon it will match up ok? I reckon they should go togeather nicely. He reckons that he uses the Bionic braid for everything because it actually has a little bit of stretch and doesnt pull as many hooks when trolling?? just gotta get over it being pink i spose haha.
From what i can tell its sort of in the same ball park as the Shimano Talica 8II, but has a little more capacity, a bit more drag pressure, and a lower profile on the rod. Cheaper too!
Just recently im becoming a bit of an Okuma convert. I used a Salina II 4000 and 10000 during the classic and they both went awesome, didn't give any grief particularly the 10000 which took a 16kg mack on PE5 and made it feel easy I wanted to try an okuma rod but they are hard to find, and i know the deep jig is a good thing. Anyone who has any experience with this or any other Okuma's want to give their opinions, i would be glad to hear what others reckon. Might be annother competitor to the usual Shimano/Diawa coming up??
I did have a Penn 975LD that i got off the forum here, on a Shimano T-Curve deep jig 200 but some little wanker figured they were entitled to it for free, over the Kalbarri classic weekend. I bloody loved that little setup.
Cheers
