Oceanic fabrication - anyone know them?

 G'day,

I've been looking at getting a boat built and found oceanuc fabrications in Henderson... I've tried looking on here and on other sites for reviews but can't find much info.

just wanted to know if anyone has one of their boats and want to know what they are like?

any info would be good

Pretty sure he was flat out

Pretty sure he was flat out servicing the mining industry and not knocking out too many rec boats any more. Did have a nice looking product though.

ive been considering the 7.5 hardtop (2010 Blue one ) model he has for sale for 95k (i actually made an offer for it on Monday) , there is a slight language barrier as he(Bruce) and all his welders are vietnamese, i have been to his factory in Henderson 3 times and had a look through all of the partially finished hulls and he builds a good boat with no corners cut. He mainly does work for Austal Ships(where he worked for years) building modules that all get welded into their passenger ferries etc, best to go have a look yourself as he will let you see his welders in action which not many other boat builders will do im sure!.  cheers

 Cheers for the response.

i have been and had a look at his factory and boats, but they are all almost complete so I couldn't see the internal builds. I spoke to another fishwrecked member who took the blu 7.5 m hardtop for a spin and he said it was light and was just like a big tinny and was very uncomfortable.... He was questioning the internals ect, being very light have they used less ally, fewer strengthening components ect.

they are cheap that's why I was wondering whether they were made cheap!

Hey piggy, I dont own one,

 Hey piggy,

I dont own one, but All I will say is that you might be better to look elsewhere first .. I spent about 20yrs in the industry as a shipwright/boatbuilder,,, and have worked with these guys before (overseeing the construction of the modules that Ryan C is talking about)..  A lot of the time there products are built "down to a price ". Not "up to a standard " !!  In saying that however it does come down to the particular tradesman who mostly builds your vessel!!  Another thing to consider is whose design is he building??  Will the designer be there to help out with any issues or changes you might want to make during construction?? Of is he building them from and old set of mylar plans or patterns laying around !!!

I have been out of that game now for a couple of years and I don't know any of the blokes he has working for him now, so it wouldn't be fair of me to make any statement as to the quality of there work !! But I reckon you should speak to a few designers/ naval architects ( there is a few of them in perth doing the ally kits ) and see who they recommend to build there product!!

And sea trial before you buy

And sea trial before you buy ! Not on a glassy day either  I've had mates that have bought there "dream boat" (ally) and have been disappointed once they've been out on a mildly choppy sea!
