Hi there
I was wondering is it possible to go fishing tomorrow morning at the North Mole?
And another question, what is the best bait to use? I am knew to fishing, when people say use a scallie, what is that? Learning the ropes please have patience as I love fishing. I know I sound like an idiot, but got to start some where. Thank you

Mate, you can definitely head
Mate, you can definitely head down there aslong as the wind is okay. fishing baits on the bottom can be hazardous as there is lots of snags that you can lose your rigs on. But you could try a baitcatcher(sabiki) rig with a float on top to catch scalies (which are a larger baitfish).
Or you could just use: mainline-float-leader(4-6lb) and a small hook with some prawn or squid for herring. Or cast some metal slices for herring and maybe tailor, or try for squid with a cast retrieve squid jig.
Good luck, its about putting the time in and youll eventually work out how to fish.
Fishing and catching are two different things. But i want to learn how to catch.

I rang the fremantle port,
I rang the fremantle port, and they advised me its closed till end of November, and they are a bit behind on finishing up their work, i did not bother heading down to check if people were fishing, so i went to floreat drain instead, got a nice tailor, and went to trigg beach on sunday snorkeling with a pole spear, and caught a huge 45cm whiting.
