Heading to Carnarvon for the annual trip next week, with the new exclusion zone thinking of heading up the coast to Beajiling Shoals & Darwin Reef. Question? has anyone fished up that way & apart from keeping an eye on the swell is it worth the 30-40km trip, any hints on depths to be fishing & what we might catch. Last the channel in the fascine has it improved for access?? thnks Kelvin

Shoals are a bit hot and cold. Have done well on blacks, cod, pinks etc there at times and struggles at others.
No real hints for up that way- look for decent structure and burley up big time. Its all semi shallow stuff
IMO you might as well go islands unless its a howling southerly- not that much further really and if its southerly, youve still got to come back into it on the way home anyway
Facine channel- now safely doable for most midsized boats on everything but the bottom half of the tides. For my 2 cents, Im still using the old boat ramp anyway.

Shoals and Darwin/Fitzroy
Shoals and Darwin/Fitzroy reef are for special days or forecast of arvo northerly. All these locations need care with any sort of swell.
Agree with the rockhopper that the islands are still okay and a better option...just return the pinks
I'd launch at the old facility and not worry about potentially non-existent channels and surprise sand-bars.
Plenty of fish available even after than annual carnarfin pillage!
