howdy...been a member for while now but never formally introduced myself. Live in willetton so fish mainly out of freo. i recognise a few people using the site....seems to be plenty of great advice and experience shared...along with many strong opinions on some matters. must also say i enjoy friday funnys! Thought id share my most unique fishing experience

my old man bought me and my brothers a large spool of braid to load up our reels for our xmas fishing trip to busso. first trip out we found a nice lump that we marked and anchored up on. things started off pretty slow until a school of sambos showed up, my brother put his rod in the holder and raced around looking for a strong handline to get amongst the school. in the meantime we all watched his rod be lifted from the holder fly about 5 metres through the air and disappear to the bottom attached to this monster. he was not happy!! 3 days later fishing the same spot my same brother (after getting a new rod) wound his line up and saw that he had hooked my line (so he thought..because of the type of braid) chucked over the line.next drop the same thing happened and he told me to move to the front of the boat so we stop getting tangle...i replied that my line wasn't tangled around his. next drop again he hooks this line at which point i wind up my line to prove its not me.....im not tangled. My brother pulls up this braided line that he keeps hooking only to pull up his rod and reel that was pulled overboard 3 days earlier. to this day 10 years on the rod is sill used!!!!

Cheers Jim

And yes you can get lucky that way. Just a pity I can seem to find my Stella and Exxy rod which I lost to a nasty shark anchorred up. Probably in South Africa now!!!
