Patience
My limited experience with landbased in Perth is that patience and flexibility are needed before the rewards come. You might need to try for more than three days....
Dusk, dawn or after dark for tailor, with some attention to the tide changes. Less critical if you have a boat and can get to the nearshore reefs. For pinks the usual mantra is that during and after storms the churn up of marine life along any of the rockwalls can see them in close. Some here have already mentioned the Moles at the mouth of the Swan River, but any rockwall is worth a go in the right conditions. Again, fish the low light periods and keep a record of the tide stages, as some places fish best at change of tide, run in from bottom, top etc. Many pinks inshore at the moment will be below legal size and need to be released, but numbers of larger ones should build over the next three months.
For bread and butter, don't forget the herring and keep some options open if gar show up. Many a trip is saved by a feed of herring and/or squid.

Welcome?
You've been a non-contributing member of Fishwrecked for 8+ years, I'm sure you've gleaned some good info over that time from others posting on here.
Looking forward to seeing a few reports/stories from your exploits.

The forums these days are not
The forums these days are not so well populated, quick gratification comes on the face book pages. Though the answers are likely to be quick one liners banged out on someones phone. There are some wise people here who given time share some great information about there experience.
Patience and being polite will get the best results.
You have not given a lot of information about the area you want to fish or the type of gear you have to do it with. This makes it very hard to give a detailed answer. Most surf beaches will provide tailor, use pilchards and fish at dawn or dusk. Preferably you need a 12-13ft rod to handle the surf and wind.
Cheers

If you put in the time, not sure of tailor. My last few times fishing for tailor got me nothing but weed and drunk

Have only had good success
Have only had good success on tailor metro from a boat at the inshore reefs. The end of the southern groin at the Dawesville Cut is good for choppers just as the sun is setting. Pinks from rock platforms right throughout the metro area either during or straight after a storm.

Dawesville Cut is just south
Dawesville Cut is just south of Mandurah. Easy to find on the map. Yes rock platforms means the rock walls at Hillarys boat Harbour, North Mole at Freo etc.

Sorry about the late reply,
Sorry about the late reply, only just saw this post as have been offline a few days. If u get stuck, one easy access spot that u could try would be the channel in the reef in front of the blue duck restaraunt at Cottesloe. Easy parking, good access for your dad, and in with a big of a chance when it's rough. A bit hit or miss, but I have had some great sessions here before I got a boat. Haven't fished it in a few years, but may b worth a try if I dont have other options.
Best of luck!
