hey mate, the Lox Yoshi is a great little rod, I think someone on here has one for sale. the are light to handle and the 1-3kg models has caught plenty of fish for me, what reel are you thinking of matching with it? I usually run a 500 Sahara with mine as well as a 1000 stradic.

rarenium's are a great bit of reel, I have a 3000 v2 (can't get them here) full silver not the black and gold ones. for the lox a 2500 or larger maybe be unbalanced in your hands, better of going with a 1000 sized CI4 stradic or rarenium or the sustains, I think from memory the new sustains have ci4 technology in them now. other choices are the daiwa sol 2's which aren't too far from the rareniums and sustains price wise. If you want to keep your rod and reel in the shimano stable, the raider rods in the lure project or soft plastics could be the fit, other than that you have a variety of other choices. I have a ci4 2500 on a lure project, and is quite a good outfit too. light is always a bonus when flicking for reddies and trout all day, as well as for breaming, don't want something that you will put own after a few hours cause they get heavy after throwing thousands of casts.

BRG has a fireblood rod that may be what you are after too...and for $150.00 is a steal.

I like bashing my way through the scrub along the banks to get to the more productive areas & I can't afford to break expensive gear so I settle for a Berkely Dropshot or a Shimano Raider. Throw a stradic on either of those & you have a great combo that you won't cry over if you happen to break it in your travels. Save the pricey rods for fishing open areas like lakes & flats.

mate I have had a berkley dropshot 1-3kg for close to 7 years now and its still going strong. even bush bashing down south. match it with a 1000 size reel with 4-6lb braid and your in business. for my trout gear I have a 1000 size reel with 2lb daiwa brave mono with the same rod. cheap and robust.

im thinking about going super light for trout matching my custom 1-3lb rod with a 500 size shimano symetre from the states. I have a 1000 on it at the moment but for $90 I cant see why not. you only cast around 10m max when trout fishing in the rivers down south.

I fish alot for trout, reddies, whiting, bream and flathead.

Ugly Stick Lite, 5.0', 3-6lb.

Awesome rod which is light enough for finnesse fishing, but heaps of grunt and I also use it on the boat for catching big skippy.

Just to throw another in the mix, and it fits in the great rod but not too heartbroken if it breaks category - Pflueger Trion. I run one and i think its great. 7'0 - 1-3kg 1 piece. The only thing i dont like is that Ray's only had the one piece in stock and not the 2 :( Apart form that a great rod for chasing bream / reddies / flathead which is all i do
