hi all, boat this boat come with a motor, brough to service and the machinic advised will cost 1 grand to fix
so now i looking for a replacement ASAP as this is my first project and want to get out water to enjoy fishing 
looking for a GOOD condition one and max is $2000 ( 50HP-100HP)

Wouldn't go any bigger than the 60hp you took off. Being an old hull any extra horsepower and you could find the motor sitting up near your feet and half the transom still attached

yeah, a few thing not right there but the motor still can running, just the service man adviced me should get anotherone instead of spend thoudsand to buy parts to fix it

Would think twice about selling a boat with a stuffed motor and not letting on, some people dont take to kind to being on the recieving end of a dud deal, and may look for a refund in body parts.

I didnt see the gumtree ad previously -but the add (now??) does say there is something wrong with the motor.... - happy to join the lynching of goreetie but actually when you look at the ad -looks to be a fair deal - trailer looks new(ish) hull looks ok (as in visually pleasing -rather than "sound") -motor that old worth little to nothing anyway-
If nothing else his ad on gumtree getting a lot of hits :-)
god he has copped a pasting for this - i thought my boat was giving me grief ! hahaha

For putting a bit of perspective on this. I wonder how many of us have ever done something similar, not telling the full story about a problem with something we're trying to sell. No,that doesn't mean it's right, but it's pretty common to buy something and discover some problem with it. And to be fair, he does say that the motor needs work.

In the first add no mention of problems with the motor, even thou he had taken it to be checked out, and knew the motor was RS.
Just dont like people being riped off, if ya selling something thats got a problem, then say it.. simple and no comeback

You can see his original post in this thread saying he discovered the motor was F#cked and needed thousands of dollars spent to repair.

Yet the FIRST gumtree ad stated that he had NOT touched the engine yet and it just needed a service because it had been sitting for 6 months.
The original Gumtree ad went missing VERY shortly after I posted the screen capture of it (above).
The screen cap clearly contradicts the info contained in his post here.
Yes, it IS common for people to buy something and discover that there's a problem with it .........TOO BLOODY COMMON !!
It's called getting F#CKED OVER by buying rubbish flogged to them with misleading information........
It's just THIS time the culprit was stupid enough to post the real situation here, followed by a bullshit ad on Gumtree........ and he got sprung !!
At least he's had the balls to repost, acknowledge it was wrong, apologise .......... and amend the Gumtree ad.
(Not that he had much of an alternative if he wants to stick around here without copping a roasting every time he posted ;) )
