navman sounder swap
Submitted by black gen on Tue, 2012-02-21 12:05
just a question about swapping face units between two boats. i was wondering if me and a mate both have navman sounders, they are different models, can i plug mine into his boat using his cables?
we both have the power cable and the cable running to the transducer, is it as easy as just plugging it in and it should work??
thanks

Airmar make a few 1kw
Airmar make a few 1kw tranducers for navman / northstar just go to their web site and do a search. Most 1kw tranducers they make will work on most models as long as they are wired to your plug properly. They have wiring diagrams for you both 10 pin and 6 pin navman models. Plenty of views on 1kw v,s 600w transducers on the net.
Different head units -As long as the plugs are the same you wont have any problems. Some models are 10 pin others 6 pin just count them.

Navman
Gents, Northstar /Navman are, gone, defunct, deceased, alas they are; no more......
But you could try "CH Smith" in Melbourne for some help or try the guys at Whitworths in Leederville, they have a young bloke in there who is the store who is a sounder whiz and they once sold the units.
I think either lowrance or simrad have take over their lines?? But I'm not sure.
cheers

Yes should work - as long as
Yes should work - as long as the transducers are the same
A few years back I had two boats for awhile - and did exactly that swopped gear between boats
