Midday tailor from Friday

A mate and i headed out late in the morning on friday to chase some more tailor on richters. Started off slow but eventually my mate hooked up to a nice 45cm fish on the pink plug. The reef seemed pretty empty so we moved to a spot ive never tried before and after finding a promising looking patch of reef my 1-3kg flicky loaded up with a solid fish and my mate hooked up to another fish over 45cms. Finally got my fish in and went a solid 59cms, 2 cms short of my PB, which gave me alot of curry on 8lb.

Hey Beau, nice fish. How close to the reef do you need to be? Wouldn't mind chasing some Tailor but I'm not comfortable getting the boat too close to shallow structure.

hey mate dont need to get too close, just bomb the reef ledges with surface lures or mulies from 20m and you'll be fine, certainly helps if youve got someone skippering while someone elses fishes, but i just drive the ski and fish while steering with my legs :)

That has to be one of the funnest forms of fishing! Nice! I can't put my finger on it, but tailor would have to be one of my favourite species to catch! Looks like a nice day on the water!

yeh not a bad session for

yeh not a bad session for middle of the day! There's some absolute stonkers out there at the moment, 70cms+ i reckon.

This summer is the first time ive ever fished for tailor like this, kinda got them sussed at the moment i think, but does the tailor fishing get better as it comes into winter as i thought you always get the big greenbacks during the cooler months??
