Hey guys im lookin for a rod to suit my abu garcia ambassadeur 6500c3, its one of them vintage ones and was wandering if it would be able to handle jiggin for pinkys n dhuies breakseas ect iv spooled it with 30lb atm but have some 50lb so might be best to chuck that on yea?
Also what rod would be necessary as far as weight/line rating
was thinkin about the daiwa laguna c baitcaster 6-12kg, dont wanna send a heap of money on a rod as i only go out in the comps with me uncle every 1-3 months
Cheers

sorry cant help with the rod
sorry cant help with the rod for that reel but for plastics and micro jigging was thinking 30lb braid MAX. would be tempted to go to 20lb maybe depending on the rod you buy.

So when you marlin fishing
So when you marlin fishing with a tiagra 80 with 24kg of drag, the biggest marlin youll land is 24kg?
I dont think so

50 to 30lb is not micro jigging
most micro jigging rods have really small eyes so have fun trying to get a leader knot out of them is using 50lb line i would reccomend 15lb line with a 30lb leader for micro jiggng as the rod would normally be rated pe.08 to 1.5
wont catch em sitting at home!

also your reel can have 150kg of drag bud but if u wanna "micro jig" then have fun stopping anything over 20kg on a micro jig rod

As above 20 - 30 lb is
As above 20 - 30 lb is plenty for that reel and metro bottom bouncing, as long as you have the line 5kg of drag is plenty and good fun!!
Big fish in shallow water could be a different story...
I have an ambassadore 6500 C3 myself with 20lb braid fitted to a Eupro Pe 1-3 jigging rod which works well, great rod and cheap.

hahahha
you guys crack me up !!!
If you are in doubt about what 5-7 kg drag can do
get your rod and reel tie the line to a bucket and put 7 litres water in it...(7kg)
then lift it with the rod like you are fishing. EDIT: don't break your rod.
7kg drag is nothing to be sneezed at.
:)
as far as stopping a 20 keg dhu.....well if you stopped one in it's tracks you'd prob pull the hooks.... all depends on structure around and how much time you have .......
I'd say (unfortunately never landed a 20kg dhu :( but landed some pretty sizable reds etc up north...monties etc jigged on 30bl line in 100ish m water on around that drag.
hutch....... lol

Exactly...i always pre set
Exactly...i always pre set mine the night before to 5 kg...thats heaps and a great guide out deep on whats a keeper...any thing that pull a good bit of string usually goes 50cm or more...so good indication to take it easy on way up to help on successful release!
Few people have me scratching my head with there comments...
