marine safety inspection
Went out this morning from woodies point to go and get some Abs from Carnac Island only to find in my early morning haste that i forgot to put my sounder/gps on my boat. No worries just a quick trip out and back in an hour or so. Driving out there i realised i also forgot to take my saftey grab bag with my flares and epirb , oh well nearly there not gonna go back. back at the ramp Marine Saftey were there waiting to check saftey equip and skippers ticket. Guy came and asked to see saftey gear and told him the situation expecting to get fined. Good young bloke understood my dilemma and said well we didn't see you out there and can't say you didn't just turn around in the harbour and come back and let me off. Top bloke ! Thanks alot ! He could have been an arsehole and booked me , but didn't.

Why would he be an arsehole?
Why would he be an arsehole? You didn't have the correct safety gear on board so he would only be doing his job, did you have anyone else on board with you? So if the shit hit the fan which it sometimes does , no EPIRB and flares onboard.

Gee no ones ever thought of
Gee no ones ever thought of an authority an arsehole for fining them when they could have used common sense and seen that it was an innocent mistake and given them a warning ?
I new that i fucked up and didn't have my epirb and flares ( i did have life jackets and 27 meg )
Thank fuck some people on here aren't marine and saftey because i would have been taken to task.
Just saying he was a considerate bloke.
If i did get fined i would have taken it on the chin and moved on.
Have to be carefull what i say on here in future , people always ready to jump on your back.

Hey Paul I knew what you
Hey Paul I knew what you meant the first time. When you f-up you take it on the chin, but no need to give max penalty the first time every time. Some people do get a bit of a power high and some are just a bit more understanding. You were lucky. Happy days.

Thats good of him for sure.
Thats good of him for sure. It is interesting how when I was growing up I would occaisionally get 'spoken' to by the cops doing the wrong thing - You know, no bike helmet, Street boozin', speeding, doing cool shit in my Torana etc. I would say yes sir, no sir and show some respect and would nearly always get off with a warning. My mates would call me a suckhole, pussy, square etc as These would be the same mates that I would drive to the courthouse to pay off their fines so they could get their license back, then help them get the yellow sticker of their now unregistered car all because they werent suckholes, pussies or squares and gave the cops shit! Ah those were the days.
