Leg room. Hilux vs Navara

I'm looking to buy another 4wd
Can anyone comment which of the above vehicles has more room in the back seat for passengers
Any other factors to consider

hey mate i have a new triton and the leg room is amazing im 6'5 and i fit in the back with easy i have had no issues with it and the 5 year warrenty is next to none and about the same price as navara and one of the best i have had had off road but out of those two i would go the hilux hands down but certinaly triton over the navara hope that helps

When I was looking to purchase, I adjusted the front seat so I was comfortable and then jumped in the back to see if I could fit. The Navara was the winner for me. I am 6'3.
Last month I was at a Toyota deslership and did the same test and the new Hilux's do have a bit more room in the back though the Navara tray is still bigger.
My bro has a Ranger and they seem to be the goods at the tic, longer and higher than the other two with plenty of room.
Further, the Navara (d40) has pretty poor ground clearance and I have been passed by tritons whilst digging my car out. The 4cl nelly also chews the juice when towing and has very poor torque at low revs. Clutch is also pretty soft in them...
other than that, they are a great road car, and go Ok when off road with pressure right down.

I just got a Ranger last year
I just got a Ranger last year with my work vehicle changeover as Hilux lacked the safety features and ANCAP rating at the time and it is a beast roomwise and I don't think I'll go back to Hilux next changeover

I'm looking to buy second hand, as a business vehicle so hoping to spend less than 20k so Joe Hockey gives me a nice return as promised in the budget.
Will occasionally use it for private use that's why interested in space in the back for kids.
I have read that Nissan 3.0lt diesel is shit.... any info on Toyotas engines / running gear?
Does d-max have any room in the back

i have a 2013 navara
I bought a new navara in 2012, the vehicle is ok , apart from the shitty turning circle which makes it hard to back a boat into a tight space , also had to replace the battery at 12 months not covered by warranty , also the front brake rotors and pads had to be replaced at 30k also not covered by warranty , apart from that not a bad vehicle , my mate has a 2013 triton and it seems to have better fuel economy than my navarra well that's what he says
In saying that I also bought a Toyota FJ new in 2012 I canned it for the Navarra after 6 month and 3 near misses (my fault) when turning right as you cant see on coming traffic from the left due the shocking rear pillar that blocks just about every thing out , every I know that has a FJ says the same thing

ok so 20k eleminates all new models and hiluxes seem to still go for a 3rd more then any other ute, so all other models you could get slightly newer.
what sort of year you looking at? 2010ish
is the tray length and legal load carry important?
towing capacity important?
is it 20k then mods or stock?
offroading?
20k i would look at rc colorado (ive got one), as newer model triton as possible 2012 onwards (early model has issues), could always risk an ex miner

Go Amarok
Far more leg room and comfort than other models. The fuel economy is sensational on road, and towing. I'm on my second one, and am thoroughly happy with what i've bought.

The D40 Navaras have heaps of room, thats the main reason why I bought mine. They are 100mm wider than the Tritons and although that dosent sound like much you sure notice the extra space when you sit in them. I had a customer who had 3 baby seats across the back seat (yes he had triplets), you wont do that with a Triton, Hilux or D max.

My 3.0l d22 has the 'hand grenade' zd30 but cant fault it so far. hasnt skipped a beat. Leg room in the d22 is not great but for 20 i think youd be pushed to find a hilux with relativly low km. best bet it to take a few for a test drive

I have a D40 STX auto cos I wanted extra power for towing....and I like a bit of extra comfort....lol
If I had under 20k and I wasn't towing (or just towing a small boat) I would have a D22 (later model)
no doubt the hilux is a good reliable car but you seem to just pay an extra 30% just for the Toyota badge. and sorry the Hilux just cant tow shit.

Navara 07 D40 stx 112,000 on the clock auto 2.5 diesel chipped with exhaust mods no lift does everything I need for off road, tows my 24ft centre console well. My hull and trailer are just under 3 ton I don't have to engage 4wd up the ramp only thing I would like is a few more ponys so I can overtake those bloody caravans who sit on 80ks when we tow North
I find the back seating comfy enough and like any ute more gear in the back better the ride I can't fault it after three years. and had no issues.if I was to buy now a Ranger or Nav would be my choices

Whats the difference between D40 and D22? Sorry if they are stupid questions.. I've never driven either Hilux or Navara.

Navaras, particularly the
Navaras, particularly the early ones, have a shitty clutch. I have a 2010 and it slips after a hard 4wd session. Apparently they get hot and then after a few weeks go back to normal. Bloody nerve wracking when a long way from home. They sell after market heavy duty ones though not sure if that just moves the load elsewhere...
D22 are a completely different shape to D40. The d22 is smaller and cheaper, with a different engine. Each to their own, I think they are ugly. Very popular and as of a few years back, they still made both models.
D40 is more the American style truck, the D22 is like the older style.
