Lay day for Macks

checked out the ocean today and it is rough,my guess is the Macks are safe for a few days, there would be a few MIAs, have these big high tides turned them on, the walk on ramps at Hillarys this morning are under water. Looks like they will be safe for awhile according to seabreeze

the tackle stores and servos will be dissappointed

Can get pretty hairy on a big

Can get pretty hairy on a big swell. I went out in my tinny on a 2-2.5 and you could see the swell lines building up in the passage, as well as numerous breaks (including one south of the exit that, south of staggies that wasnt obvious on the charts). I dont know if the built up swell in middle of the passage ever breaks, but was something I wasnt completely comfortable with not knowing the area. Would be good to get some local knowledge on it though.

3m is some solid swell.

But at least the forecast is not as windy as Saturday.

Dont think either day will be pleasant!

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

Anything over 3 m generally

Anything over 3 m generally breaks right accross that area. You have to be very carefull for the odd big one that comes through. We were out last night but didnt get a touch, even the bait schools were few and far between. Local knowledge is a must in those conditions.
