A KING George
Submitted by Rosejamsack on Fri, 2011-09-02 21:32
Check this out, I had to post this. Couldn't believe it when i hauled it in!! I was chasing snapper off the rocks in Geordie Bay ay Rotto on squid. This nice KG weighed 2.1kgs and was 56cm long. I checked the stats and the WA record is 47cm and 1.8kg however i didn't have authentic scales or paperwork to go with it! It fed 8 of us for dinner and was delumptious!

Very nice fish...looks tasty, however i've found that a King George of that size normally is only just nudging the kilo mark, so the record was probably safe. 47cm/1.8kg is very odd.

And I get annoyed at everyone always picking
on size/weights. Frankly who needs this sh**the and then we loose people who wont want to post because some smart ass picks on it.
Its a cracking KG, he mentioned his weighing mechanism so why the always niggle/pick.
That one could do some serious kidney damage. As to feeding 8?? They are so nice it would have been MINE and MINE alone.

Agree too Brody
either way it's a good KG. Maybe it was SUPER FAT?
I've seen them to 75cm and even then they were only around 2-2.5kg mark. Maybe I need new scales?

Gday Madfish, yes sometimes
Gday Madfish, yes sometimes you just have to share a good fish with others. Too good to be kept to myself on a hard drive, a photo paints a thousand words!! This fish was caught from the shore just around from Geordie Bay jetty in about 3 mtrs of water and about a 5 mtr cast! I certainly wasn't expecting it. Good to see it has generated a whole heap of discussion!! Mick

Your smile says it all.
Congratulations. A catch like that doesn't come along every day and when it happens unexpectedly it's an extra bonus I reckon.
Keep up he good work and I/we look forward to more of your exploits.

choice fish
thats a doosy champ good work!
i know you didnt have certified scales, but it would have been interesting to get a positive weight on him, fo shizzle. we consistantly get them when dhuie fishing some of our rubble/limestone spots that always go over 50cm, and i would love to get a weight on them for peice of mind. theyre usually big enough to get hooked on 9/0's!! always a welcome bycatch.
i always see some monster KG's when diving at rotto and a few of our frequent cray spots, and when spearing, i never let them pass without having a shot.
again, good work!!

Scales
Gday Scotto, when i said they werent certified scales, they were certainly accurate enough at the Geordie Bay store... The fish weighed 2.1kg on the digital scales, so i am taking that! And i measured it on the jetty in front of about 30 people while they were fishing for blowies! All good!!!

Mmmmm, making my mouth water.
When I first started fishing in WA any KG's I caught just got put on a big set of hooks and sent back out as bait
. LOL, an aussie mate had a bit of a fit and made me eat one of the slimy buggers and now they go into the esky as fast as I can get the lid off. Awesome catch there!

Cracker of a KG, caught one at 50cm years ago but was extremly thin and only weighed 990grms, that thing looks like it would have pulled mine backwards!

I actually thought it was a salmon..... I used reasonably large long shank hooks, on squid and the guy i was fishing with couldnt stop talking about it for weeks. I'm glad everyone gets it on here, I have told a few people and they just went... Oh, thats nice! Its great to be able to share your excitement with like minded fisho's.... I actually live in Karratha and catch some incredible fish, however I was blown away with this KG!

That's one awesome whiting Just for all the haters I caught a Jacky 43.8 kg 6 inches shorter than one that weighed 32kg which I caught 15 minutes earlier Good fishing that day Annoying that a week later my mate asked me where I got them, proceeded to head out And got one that went 51 kg
