jurien bay charter

hi lads

heading out with whitey in a few weeks time and just wanna know what type of gear to use on them. got a few packs of 7inch gulp and lucanus jig in pink so far, are ther any other types of jigs that work well? and what type of plastics are best to use?

also want to use my saltiga game 3500 with pe2 line on it,  is this going to be too light of gear to use

any advice is much appreciated

cheers

The reel is fine. Also some 80-90g jigs on your lighter gear.

Jigheads 1-4 oz depending on the depth and drifts.

Gulp! 7 inch jerk shad and zman plastics 8" Steakerz.

get some caprices, dynamite. If you cant justify it, get some fankys instead.
7 inch mccarthy bullheads in hot orange did the job for me 2 weeks ago when I was up there.

i went out with whitey for

Mon, 2012-08-13 16:41

i went out with whitey for the first time about 2 months ago with a bunch of mates. I was using extremely light gear 15 pound braid, size 30 reel and Ajm light carbon rod.

Absolutely cleaned up 7 snapper and 2 big dhu's biggest dhu went 17 kg on the scales.

The secret was 7 Inch Berkly Nuculear Chicken, i swear by these and they have never let me down! make sure you have the right size jig head for the depth you are fishing very important to be on the bottom just ask whitey what depth or have a look on the sounder.

i used elevator heads for that added bit of action, jeez did they work a treat.

Hopefully you do just aswell if not better, you are definitely on the right charter just a matter of tempting the big boys.

Goodluck hope to see a good report soon :)

gulp = bait ;) haha.

gulp = bait ;) haha. Seriously, go for the McCarthy's instead. may not have the same smell as gulps, but have a million times more action. also means you don't get gulp juice everywhere ;)
Gulps have their place, but I prefer to use bullheads and jerk minnows.

Jigs and Plastics

Tue, 2012-08-14 08:47

Taking a few different jigs and plastics will allways open up the possibilities onboard a charter.

Jigging Master Fallings

Duel Tamentai

Pirate style jigs (Eupro, Daiwa and Pro Hunters)

Fanky's

Mc Arthy 7" Bullhead minnows

Zman 8" Streakz

Mc Arthy 6" Paddle Tail

The above and more will work, Feel free to come in and check them out.

Also your Saltiga Game will do nicely out there.

Cheers
