Jurien Bay

Have family arriving from east this week and am intending to head to Jurien, just wondering if it is worth doing some trolling or stay in closer for squid and whiting etc. any thought would be appreciated regards

Can't give fishing advice but there is a beaut little spot just north called Sandy cape, nice and protected and worth a visit.

Edit : I have only fished a fair way offshore, great trolling and jigging. In close I have no idea.

you can get the macs and tuna out the back of the reefs. thinking it might be a bit early tho for them to come in. definately watch the swells tho , they can be tricky. if nothing else you could go for a cruis and try.

As said above, trolling along the outside of Seaward Ledge and behind (outside) the islands is where you find them.  But as Russ said, be very, very careful if you don't know the area, particularly if the swell is up.  South Passage can be tricky to navigate, especially when coming back in.  And the Boomer can break unexpectedly, so steer clear of that.  If you havent been to Jurien before, I suggest head out through North Passage and then head south down the back of Seaward Ledge.    And get yourself a chart or Navionics app before you head up there.

Many thanks for your responses , My boat is now parked in Jurien as we have brought a house there but have not as yet ventured out . I take note to your comments above and I know that it might be a little bit of a mine field, I don't take the sea for granted and with the gps/finder I intend to take the North passage and then maybe troll up and down until the wind gets up [after looking at some sites it might be earlier than I hoped]
If I have any luck I will post a result, once again thanks DD
