Importing Ally Plate Boat From China

Hi Guys,

Looking at buying my first boat and looking to import one from china. Ive just moved to Karratha, im a keen fisho/diver and i want to get into the amazing fishing i keep hearing about up here. After doing a little research general consensus is

- ally for first boat, its more forgiving

- ally more economical to run

- ally ruff ride though

- 17ft good size to get offshore whilst still being managable if I take it out by myself

- centre cosole best fishing/diving boat but a wet ride (not an issue up here, 30c min days)

- cuddy cabin good compromise for more shelter

started looking online as I wasnt going to get what I wanted in my budget and found these
Custom Catermarine
17ft cat centre console

19.5ft cat centre cab

Aurora Yatchs
18ft V centre cab

Huaao Marine Manufacturing
17ft V centre console

Of the boats above what seems like the best boat? im leaning towards the 17ft cat centre console or centre cab but not sure if i want to run 2 o/boards

If I was to import one of these I think I would go for everything but the o/boards and get them fitted here for warranty.

So whats everyones thoughts on the above boats, if they would shy away from one over the others, why?

any thoughts or opinions appreciated thanks

You get what you pay for.  I

You get what you pay for.  I have read a write up on the Aurora's said they are a reasonably good hull (though not one of the fastest) however they are let down by the fitting out.  I'd be checking everything myself - the Aurora's are put together with galvanised screws/bolts etc (according to the write up) rather than stainless which is standar on most aussie/other boats.   Said they are a good option if your not fussed by this but bear in mind you may have to replace them with stainless eventually and rust marks running down the hull will make it unsightly in a few years.

Personally I'd just go a good second hand boat for the same price

Cheers

Their ribs and glass boats

Their ribs and glass boats are filthy cheap, I'd be curious as to how these shape up too.

just a thought

Hi mate

my personal opinion would be that there would be little commercial upside after shipping, gst, customs etc -but i would too be interested to see the $$ difference

that aside i note that you say this is your first boat. Just going from experience not long after purchasing your first boat you will be after something a bit bigger/faster/more suited to the 30 degre min (somedays 45+!!!) days :-)

With this in mind i would be thinking about re-sale value of one of these boats in say 12-18m time vs buying a good quality second hand alum boat locally and then working out what is the ideal boat for your requirements (and then maybe importing??)

either way all the best - firs tboat is always a great journey
