High speed trolling lures suggestions?
Hey all
just after people's suggestions and thoughts on what trolling lures- if any- work well in rough(ish) seas at around 15-18knots?
Obviously the intention is to use them to pass the time a bit when I'm out and about in choppy seas and can't travel any quicker
I know there's the lead headed skirt option (haven't played with them personally but the good ones seem pretty pricey so would be interested to hear from people that have?) and have tried towing Halco Max and Sebile Bongo jerks but they don't seem to go as well as reported...
when there's some chop, I guess logic says something that sits a bit deeper would help keep its action, more visible to any pelargics you might run over on the trip there/ home, but even the best with a bib like that usually starts blowing out well before that sort of speed. Hence the condundrum I guess but I'm sure someone must have invented something to do the job surely?
Suggestions/ opinions/ experiences of anything that can hold well at those speeds in sloopy(ish) conditions would be greatly appreciated
cheers!

One extreme...
...to another: I think it was Mann's that put out a troller that goes down to 50 feet. Don't know if it can handle high speed.
Or go the other way, and try a surface popper/stickbait...the violent skipping/slashing action may just be a goer...although I lost a Cordell pencil popper doing that at Rotto last week. Bit too much for the Hawaiian clip I was using...

We use the Bullets up north
We use the Bullets up north Paul, always get Tuna hits between spots on the run. They are a great lure!

Demon Hex
I run the Demon Hex Lures from escaping tackle. I find they are good up to around 18 knots.
I have had success with the blue and white colours and judging by the fact that they always sell out first, I suspect that is the one to get.
The glue they use on the skirts is not strong enough to run high speeds so you need to pull the skirt off and glue it back on yourself with a half decent glue.
You will also need a fairly heavy combo to handle the drag. I run international 50's and they barely are able to hold at the high speeds.

Yep. I've used those same
Yep. I've used those same ones and caught a few fish on them. They hold in well.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Re skirts coming off easy fix
Re skirts coming off easy fix is to run a bit of five minute epoxy (araldite) over the join between the head and skirt. will stop the water getting underneath and pushing the skirt off. Skirts on my teasers used to rip - they now have epoxy heads and last well

Try the deep diving Samaki
Try the deep diving Samaki Pacemaker. Bibbed minnow that looks similar to an X-rap but will handle 15knots.
