HDS7 Problem with Sounder

My hds7 (combo) sounder function didn't work for some reason. It's just reading 0.8m (water depth), and bla bla sounding! I've tried everything while we're in the water, reboot, disconnect and reconnect cables, even made sure that the trance ducker is correctly positioned .... Luckily I had my backup Furuno, to finish our session.

Anyone faced this problem with any hds unit before? It's still not working, and haven't checked the cable running from traced ulcer to display yet, just trying to get ideas before starting hardware work on it.

Any help would be appreciated

Cheers

I know this may sound real dumb...but is the depth control set correctly ?

I had this happen to my Furuno a few years ago and did I feel like a big dick head when I discoverd my error.

Cheers and good luck with it.

Ah ok, got confused here! The issue is it was working fine, sounding all the way in, and then started doing this without me changing any settings!. We thought that something hit the transducer, but there was nothing. I'll need to check the depth range, i cant remember whether its on auto, or certain depth.

Cheers for that

Is it a new installation ?

If so, did you select the right transducer model from the setup menu etc and set all other relevant options ?

point it down towards the bottom ever so slightly (transducer that is) then make sure your power is connected properly, might not be getting enough grunt to work properly. make sure the transducer is tight too so it's not moving about.

I'll do that, mainly clean the pins in the plugs, may be its oxidizing! I've also been told not to too tighten the bolts on the transeducer, so it knocks something, it kind of bends upwards.
Cheers mate
