I've found with a shorter
I've found with a shorter graphite rod I can cast small lures as far as if not further than my 10' sneider glas. They are more rigid hence less work so tires out the fish quicker IMO. The down fall is they damage very easily so great care must be taken. Love em!

There pretty good conductors
There pretty good conductors of electricity, so best not to use them in an electrical storm.

Fibreglass has a low modulus
Fibreglass has a low modulus and can take a bit more abuse but to get a similar strength to a Carbon rod more material is needed and it is heavier and less sensitive. The article below goes into it in much more detail.
There are also several levels of Carbon modulus and the higher the modulus the lighter the rod can be to achieve the same level of strength. The trade off is that it is more brittle and prone to breakage if not used properly. Don't be put off that though as if you use the rod the way it should be used it will be fine. The biggest advancements in recent years is in the resins used to glue the Carbon layers together. "Nano resins" are allowing for lighter stronger Carbon rods by making the interlamination strength much stronger.
It's not that simple of course as quality control and skill level of the person making the blank is important. You can use the highest end materials but if they are not put together properly it will be sub standard.

I've used a sahara / symetre
I've used a sahara / symetre for the last couple of years ...it's my go to light combo either flicking lures or on the bottom for whiting ...caught alsorts on it including small blacktips , loads up well you can really feel the fish through the rod , very light and responsive ...
