Gracetown Sojourn
With the weather looking good for a morning fish before the front we decided to head south of the Cape.
First intentions was to launch out of Canal Rocks but upon arriving at the ramp the swell was breaking over the ramp.....not a good option especially if the swell picked up.
A quick conference and we decided to head further south for Gracetown. With me was Mark (Big Red) and the other boat comprised Stoinka and Garry. Garry had kindly offered a few gps marks so who could resist......
Gractown looked calm as we desended onto the ramp. A quick launch and a quick trip through the reef and we were out in the big blue. Pointed North and headed up the coast......
The conditions were sweet with a rolling swell but not much wind. First time for Mark in my boat so plenty of pressure to put him onto some quality fish. Not long after he abandoned his jig for bait he landed a nice little Dhuie so pretty happy.
Stoinka landed one not long before us so things looked promising.
Well plenty of fish on the sounder but not much action regardless of jig, soft plastic, or bait. However Mark did land a nice Queenie which fell to snapback on a paternosta rig.......
At one stage a couple of whales came over for a look and hung around for a while.....awesome stuff.
Back to the Ramp midday and a sweet day on the water.
Cheers Stonika and Garry for the hospitality.

I got a shallowtail
insistent on not using bait so was jigging and soft plastics.
plenty of bumps but no real interest but thats fishing....
some serious ground so the gps marks well worth the trip.
Mark and the others got the usual Mildura carp....

Thanks Damo
Thanks Damo, great day on the water mate. Finally got to go for a ride in your boat, can't wait for the next trip. Some pretty gnarly ground around Gracetown heh? More time on the water down there should do us the world of good. Bit different heading back into the ramp and having the surfies riding the waves in behind us! Wouldn't want to be out there when things get a bit wild.

It's only been a week...
It's only been a week since we finished up Clint but it feels like 3 months! I could really get used to this not working caper! It's just nice to be able to get out on the water and relax, any fish are a bonus.
