GPS/sounder

After a gps/sounder combo for my boat. Only be going  to the 5 fathom bank and for inshore work. Was wondering what I will be paying for a half decent unit and does anyone have any suggestions?

Gday mate i've just fitted a Lowrance HDS7 touch to my boat and couldn't be happier, comes with structure scan inbuilt.

To easy to install, cost about $2000 inc both transducers

Furuno

Hi Boppo, I've had navman, JRC, Lowrance and Furuno. If you have the money get a furuno 587 for your sounder they are awesome and especially excellent for inexperienced users.  I love the bottom descrimination (tells you graphically what the bottom is - eg rock, sand etc) and the Acu fish is great, it estimates the fish size and works really well.  The other day it was telling me I had a 75 -100 cm fish in my cray pot and sure enough there was a big wobby in it. I have a HDS7 that I use for the GPS- this combination works pretty good and can be linked together so you can put up to 20 waypoint on the Furuno.  You'd be looking at around 3k though but in my experience the Furuno is the best sounder I have had (although the JRC was excellent it was an old commercial unit.)
