getting prepared for coral bay
Submitted by Faulkner Family on Sun, 2025-04-27 13:08
Been spending the day making sinkers for our trip to Coral Bay. planning on trying the deep stuff hence the 32 Oz sinkers. Any tips or tricks for the deep stuff like depth and what to look for. I have a rough idea but never fished more than 140 there.

Might need some heavier weights if you hit the 250 - 300 metres naturally a lot depends on your drift and currents, we've used heavy chain up to 2 kilo. Don't know if you do but give your sinkers a spray of black paint because I've had sharks bight off new sinkers until they were painted, bit the sinkers off and didn't touch the bait, think they might have had a hard time crapping them out.

Thanks for the info. Probably
Thanks for the info. Probably won't be drifting as we have a minn kota. I do have some older sinkers to use up first so a lot duller. Didn't even think about the shiny sinkers getting taken. The sharks could be shitting bricks

Haven't fished out of Coral Bay but if your"re chasing Rubies look for some canyons and check the sides, if you go bottom Greyband may also be give you something to fill your eskies. We usually fish 2 to 300 mts with electric reels as it's hard work with manual wind and as usual the tax man likes his cut .

Cheers. hoping for rubies as we have never caught them but if grey band happen to pop up I wouldn't be complaining. I do expect the grey coats will be out and about as per normal
