Caught this flattie while tossing plastics around yesterday.
Ive been fishing in Carnarvon for a fair while and haven’t seen one anywhere near as big as this before. I was wondering if anyone knows if it’s big for the species (I believe it’s a bartail that we get around here, but am happy to be corrected if ive got that wrong?) or just for this region?
I think the Carnarfin record is 1.27kg (gutted and gilled) and this one went 60cm and 1.55kg g+g’d… obviously I caught it at the wrong time of year, but I guess it gives some idea that it’s a good fish for around this area?
Cheers for the input guys

THAT DOES LOOK LIKE A BARTAIL
And it is a big one for anywhere.

Bartail
Bartail flat head, there are quite a few to be caught around Pelican point or the river mouth entrances , heaps of small ones and some real beauties as well
