Hey All, can anyone give me some feedback on what its like out at Delambre Island? New to the area with a 4.5m side consol, and wanting to get out there for a run (if its worthwhile of course) also, where might be the best place to head out from (Back Beach ???) any advice would be emensly appreciated!

delambre is good fun mate,
delambre is good fun mate, just head out thee and have a look. Heaps of options around the island, light fligking, trolling etc I would go from samson if your planning on comming back any time of tide, back beach road can be a pain after you bring your wet boat back in, you get that red dirt stuck to everything and the ramp is semi tidal as well

yeah
I had a 14ft tinnie just pick your days and i didnt have any problem within about 5 or so miles off the back of the island . I fished in a mates boat in the dampier classic last year (2009) and got some marlin a bit further out .

strong currents between
strong currents between Delambre and Legendre islands that trolls well on the drop off, some very good reef fishing and shallow diving as well just watch that weather and launch from Samson, the shorter trip the better if you happen to catch the wind acting against the tide making it a very choppy ride.
Hoping to do much more fishing out that way in the coming months

Yeah, I've dived on the edge
Yeah, I've dived on the edge of the fringing reef on the west side of the island in about 8-12m of water. Plenty of big bombies, heaps of coral trout, bluebone, chinaman and the odd spango cruising around.
Delambre would probably be one of my favourite islands in the archipelago, plenty of options and great scenery.
